Apple refreshes MacBook Pro line
13-inch unibody MacBook now a MacBook Pro

Apple, Inc. today introduced a refreshed laptop line starting with the MacBook Pro line that starts at $1199 for a 13-inch MacBook Pro with 2.26 Core 2 duo with 2GB RAM, 160GB hard drive and a SD card slot, the first for an Apple notebook. The top of the line 17-inch model ($2499) features 4GB DDR3 memory, a 500GB hard disk drive, and NVIDIA 9400M or a 9600M GT and an ExpressCard slot. The 15 inch models, in 2.53, 2.66 or 2.8GHz configurations, feature 250, 320GB, and 500GB respectively, 4GB DDR3 and your choice of NVIDIA 9400M or a 9600M GT graphics on the mid range and high end model, and 9400M graphics on the entry level 15-inch model. Pricing on the 15-inch models are $1699, $1999 and $2299.

The consumer level MacBook now includes the polycarbonate white MacBook only. The previous 13-inch unibody aluminum MacBook has joined the MacBook Pro line. Priced starting at $1199, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is $100 cheaper than the 13-inch unibody MacBook that it replaced, but includes an SD card slot and FireWire 800. It features a 2.26GHz Core 2 duo CPU, and a 160GB hard disk drive. The top of the line 13-inch MacBook Pro, priced at $1499, features a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 250GB SATA hard disk drive, and 4GB RAM. Both systems support up to 8GB RAM.
